The Laguna Beach based punk rockers became part of the LA punk scene back in 1978, when Mike Ness formed the band. They became well known to punk rockers over the years, but reached a mainstream audience when their song ˘Another State of Mind÷ aired on MTV in 1984. The band suffered through some drug issues and changes in band members in the 90Ăs but still managed to continue appearances on MTV and occasional play on radio. Their fan base continued to grow as did their lyrics, and now Social Distortion is considered one of the first punk bands to go mainstream and still remain outspoken and independent. The band began to play again after the death of guitarist Dennis Danell in 2000, and released ˘Sex, Love and Rock N Roll÷ in September of 2004. It is their first studio album in eight years and contains 10 great tracks including ˘Reach for the Sky÷, which is their first hit single.
