Deftones  The Sacramento band began playing locally in 1988, and will continue to rock their fans into 2009. The group's unique sound that is generated by a mix of melodic metal and hard rock is the reason Deftones remain one of the best live bands in rock today. The band has put on some great shows in Sacramento over the last few years. Deftones appeared in Sacramento in May of 2003, for a small and very charged up hometown crowd at the Crest Theatre while a self-title was chosen for Deftone's fourth release. Changes in their management camp along with good recording sessions helped to give them new focus. They rocked Memorial Auditorium with special guests DeathAngel and Ghostride in January of 2004. In 2005 the band members focused on some of their other musical side projects and also released the CD Deftones B-Sides & Rarities that includes a DVD. In 2006 the band was on the road for a total of 9 months with only a few short breaks. After an appearance at the Taste of Chaos Tour in March at Arco Arena(see pics below ), the guys were also able to squeeze in a packed free show for Sacramento fans at Cesar Chavez Plaza in May of 2006. Once the Deftone's European tour was done they returned home in 2007 to perform in August at Sleeptrain Apmhitheatre for The Family Values Tour and headlined with Korn (remember the shows at The Cattle Club - off the hook!!). Lawn seats for the show went for only $9.85, which allowed many fans to go that couldn't afford the jacked-up ticket prices for most concerts.
